To celebrate my 10-year wedding anniversary, I’m giving away 10 copies of THE ROAD TO HELL.
That’s right. Ten copies. I’m positively giddy, and you guys get to benefit from it!
All you have to do is leave a comment and tell me what your favorite present was. Could be for a birthday, or a wedding, or a just-because. Hell, it could be a drink someone bought you when you were in Maui. Leave a comment, and you’re in the contest.
I’ll pick ten winners at random on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7.
So have at it, y’all!

The best gift I ever received was my son. I don’t know if that really counts as a gift, but he is the best thing, not including my husband
, that ever happened to me.

My best gift ever, besides my kids, was the very first mothers day I was able to celebrate, my Daughter was only a month old. My husband bought me a mothers cameo. As my daughter has gone from baby to adolescent and now I have my Son as well, each thinks the mother and child on the cameo, is them! I haven’t worn another necklace since it was given to me, and I can’t imagine taking it off!

My best gift ever was my first cd player. We didn’t have a lot of money then and I was shocked to get it for Christmas. Even though it’s been years, I still have it and use it to this day.

Hi Jackie! Oh mine is really every anniversary. I told my hubby about the story of my grandmother and her rose garden. I woked with her all the time with her roses eventhough I am allergic to bees and she told me I was Sunshine, like the yellow roses. She was always so special to me and I have wonderful memories of hers.
So hubby gave me a yellow rose on our first anniversary, then 2 on our second and so on. Coming June I will get 25 yellow roses (yep its getting expensive, LOL)

My favorite just-because present was from my hubby. When my twins were a year old, and I was feeling just a teensey bit stressed out of my mind, lol, my hubby came home one Friday night, told me he and Grandma were in charge of the boys for the weekend, and that I was headed for a spa weekend with my sisters. Granted he looked a little pale when I got home Sunday night, but man, it still tops the list of the best gifts ever.

Happy Anniversary!! My favorite present was my engagement ring that was given to me a day after my birthday. It meant alot because it meant that he was ready to spend the rest of his life with me.
-
Happy Tenth!!! My fav present was a kitten I got from my Dad for my 7th Birthday. He had just retired from the Army, after serving in Korea and Nam), Dad doesn’t like cats, but for me he made the exception. This lead to a lifetime love of cats! Jen

Happy 10th again… and just thinking ahead, my 11th is coming up next month
Best present ever… hmmm. That is a tough one. Think I’ll have to go with the wife saying yes to marrying me and right next to that the birth of both of my daughters.
I’m a sentimental sap when it comes to my girls.

The best gift I ever received was from my youngest son when he was in first grade. They made mother’s day cards and in the middle of the card was a picture of my son. I cried buckets. He is now 12 years old and the card is framed in my bedroom for all of time.

The best gift I ever received was on my twentieth wedding anniversary. After we were married, I saved the bouquet in my keepsake cabinet. Of course, the fresh flowers were long gone, but I still had the holder and the lace and I treasured what remained. Well, my dear hubby, for our anniversary that year, snuck the remains out of the cabinet and took our wedding pictures to a local florist and had the bouquet remaid in beautiful silk flowers that looked just like the original flowers in the bouquet. I thought it was the most wonderful and thoughtful thing he could have ever done. Now I can see my bouquet every day and remember that happy time.

My favorite present was for this past Mother’s Day. My husband bought flats of my favorite flowers and a couple of large pots. Then he helped my 4 children plant the flowers in the pot. They bloomed beautifully and I can’t wait to make it a tradition every Mother’s Day.

Happy Anniversary…Wow, ten years! I hope that you have a wonderful anniversary.
The best gift that I ever received was on Valentine’s Day…my third child was born on Valentine’s Day thirteen years ago. I consider each one of my children a gift, but he was actually born on Valentine’s Day. That was a very nice Valentine’s Day!

I think there’s a tie between the first gift my godson gave me and my 3 year old nephew spontaneously giving me part of his “potty reward”, a jelly bean. At 7 he took his allowance and bought a crystal hummingbird at a fair then told his mom they needed to get bubblewrap so that he could send it to me. It took about 10 minutes to get through all the tape he used and to unroll the huge ball of bubblewrap.

The best gift I ever received was both given and then taken away in less than 24 hours. I was in 4 grade, I think, and somehow or another received a 10 volume book set of Dr. Seuss books. I remember coming in from the school bus and there, in all its glory, was a box full of books! I was ecstatic! It even had the “All About Me” book in there which, of course, I immediately started filling out. That evening after my dad got home from work, he informed me that I wasn’t keeping the set of books because he didn’t order them and he wasn’t paying for the books. I was completely devasted. I can still remember having to go and erase all my “All About Me” information from the book. I cried a river of tears like there was no tomorrow. To this day I blame him for my book addiction and for my almost compulsive need to buy the book “NOW” b/c what if I want it later and it’s gone??!! Funny thing is I think I was so traumatized by it, I forgot all about the incident until I started reading heavily again 5 years ago. LOL - I often think of suing him for cruel and unusal punishment and actions detrimental to a child. I wonder if there is a Statute of Limitations on that sort of thing? Maybe I’ll look that up.

My favorite gift was the Christmas I was six years old, when we first moved to New York. I got a wooden sled (I still have it in my closet) and Parchesi.
-
My favorite present was right after I sold my first book, my dh gave me a rubber tree plant. He said it was because I kept bouncing back after each rejection and that’s why I’d finally sold.
Then my dogs shredded it the next day.
I love the irony.

I got my best present today. I have had the week from Hell (sorry, Jezzy); my boss took two days of vacation and left me in charge at work, the computer system went down for 3 hours on one day, then one of the x-ray rooms went down and service had to be called, on top of all this drama at work, one of my ferrets had a massive stroke and died. I was totally verklempt.
Today, I came home from work(yes-on top of all this I had to work on Saturday, too!) and my husband had gone to the Farmer’s market and bought me a big bouquet of flowers to cheer me up. What a guy-no wonder we will be celebrating our 31st anniversary in two weeks. He’s a keeper.

Happy Anniversary.
My best gift happens every year at Christmas. This is when I find out that my boyfriend actually listens to me when I pick something up and say I like it but don’t end up buying it. He remembers and picks it up for me. He’s one of the few men out there that listen and care enough to remember

My girlfriends took me out to celebrate my 30th birthday. I was very depressed at the thought of turning the big 3-0. We hit a great blues bar after a wonderful dinner and started pondering life, youth and age. My dear friend Fayann suddenly had a lightbulb over her head and asked me what year I was born in. I told her and she said “Happy Birthday! You are only 29; we’re the ones that are 30.” She gave me back a year of my life, the best gift ever! I never was much of a mathematician.

This is tough. My husband always makes a big deal out of birthdays but probably my best gift ever was having my 1st child who was born 2 weeks before I turned 31. Now that she is entering pre-teen hood, that of course is debatable! LOL!

I’m not married but my cats and I celebrate living together! They poop me something rancid and I feed them something equally rancid from a can. Then I open up a nice bottle of wine and wake up the next morning with a sock stuck to my cheek.
THAT is true lurve.
Happy Anniversary, Mistress Kessler!

This is silly but my best ever gift was from my hubby I was looking through every store and on line for 3 months for a chick movie and a CD I wanted… couldn’t find either so I stopped looking. The day after I stopped I came home from work and there was a bag with bows and streamers sitting on the table, you guessed it both!!!! LOL
There have been many others but I think that was the best!!! Oh and the cold Mountain dew he brought me after our kids were born!!! LOl

Happy Anniversary! My birthday was Friday, and my parents gave me a gift that seems, right now at least, to be one of the best I’ve had. They paid for plane tickets to Florida so I could visit my best friend from grad school! She’s teaching there, I’m finishing up my degree in Minnesota, and we hadn’t seen each other in two years! I had a wonderful time!

Happy 10th Anniversary and best wishes for a many more years to come!!
Hmmm after my son…
I think my favorite gift is what I got for my 10 year anniversary. I collect heart jewelry and my hubby gave my a Sterling silver heart pendent with the following quote “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched they must be felt with the heart” I think the quote is from Helen Keller.

Um, it’s a toss up for me. First possibility is the pendant and matching earrings my husband got me about a year ago. They were absolutely perfect, just my style and they were for absolutely no occasion at all.
Other possibility is when the husband *volunteers* to watch not only our kids but also my best friend’s kids so we can go out. While he’s stuck in the house with 6 wild boy-childs.

Happy 10th Anniversary! My favorite was actually belated since it happened two days after my birthday. It was the birth of my baby girl. She will be one year old on October 10th and I am so excited. We already had a boy and we really wanted a girl this last time. We were just so thrilled when the ultrasound indicated we were having a girl and just two days after my birthday is just a present that can’t be beat for me.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
I like my gifts frilly and frivolous. My first Christmas home from college, I opened a promising-looking box to find one of them multitool thingies. I was nonplussed. Had no idea what I’d do with it. It turned out to be the best gift I ever got. Sooo useful. Every time I fix some little thing with it, I hear my thoughts from the day I opened the gift–”What in the world am I going to use this thing for?” Just about everything.

How to choose one favorite present? I’ll pick a fun childhood memory. I was absolutely thrilled when I got a stuffed cookie monster doll one Christmas!

best gift ever is a tie between
1) getting cable TV at age 15 - after begging incessantly since age 13 when my mom saw one of those “evil” music videos on MTV and said never
and
2) my adorable doggie my hubby brought home last Feb - one week after what was perhaps the crappiest 31st birthday ever - complete with nasty fight at a marriage counseler’s office

My best present ever was when I was young, maybe 8 years old, Santa brought me this driving game. It was crazy. It was a big disk that was molded like the game of Life used to be. And you had a steering wheel, and a car with a magnet on the bottom. You put the “gear” into drive and “drove” the car as the disk turned. The car went off the disk/road all the time but we loved that dumb game. I wonder if they still make them! Laughing…

My best present ever was tickets to 2 back to back Bon Jovi concerts, 1st pair was 11 rows from the stage, 2nd pair was 2nd section from the stage on the right side. They sang everything I wanted to hear and Jon even popped up in my section about 5 feet away from me to sing Bed Of Roses, which has been my favorite song since I was just a little girl.
Those 2 nights I will remember for ever!
