“What’s The Matter With Kids These Days?”
Monday, March 17: Tax Deduction the Elder had labored breathing at 5 am. Off to the doctor. It’s croup, which he’s been prone to since he was four months old. Medication; he’s OK after a couple of days.
Friday, March 21: It’s Good Friday; Tax Deduction the Elder is home with me (no school) while I’m working. Get a call from pre-school: Tax Deduction the Younger has a fever of 101.5. Told that strep throat is going around. Race over, get him to the doctor. Not strep throat. Whew.
Monday, March 24: Tax Deduction the Younger still has a fever. Back to the doctor. The “not strep throat” is now “para-influenza.” Treat it symptomatically.
Tuesday, March 25: Tax Deduction the Younger is fever-free, but still can’t go to pre-school (gots to be 24 hours after the fever breaks). I spend the day trying to work while entertaining a bored four year old. Oh, and cleaning up cat vomit. (Geriatric kitties = big messes)
Thursday, March 27: Nothing wrong, just a half-day at pre-school; Tax Deduction the Younger home with me.
Friday, March 28: Get call from school: Tax Deduction the Elder is having trouble breathing, again. Back to the doctor. Croup, again. Medication, again.
Today: Tax Deduction the Younger suddenly has trouble swallowing, clutches right ear, cries “Owwwww!” Call the doctor; get a prescription for ear drops. Between drops and ibuprofen, he’s able to get to sleep. (As of this blog post, that is.)
Tomorrow: Back to the doctor.
All this, and it’s crunch-time at the day job, and I have a novella deadline fast approaching.
**Sigh**
This was a bad week to try to diet, wasn’t it?
