Want Drama?
So, as you know from last week, there was an ISBN mix-up, leading to two different ISBNs for the same book, HOTTER THAN HELL. Even though it looked like this was just for preorders through Amazon and B&N.com, now it looks like the chain Barnes and Noble ordered the secondary ISBN for its stores, instead of the primary (and correct) ISBN. The chain Borders seems to have ordered the correct ISBN.
What does this mean? The primary ISBN version will hit stores in the next week — the official launch date is August 5, but Amazon and B&N.com will start filling pre-orders tomorrow, and one person emailed me to say she already bought her copy at her local Borders. However, the secondary ISBN version won’t be available until the end of August. (Maybe.)
If you pre-ordered from either Amazon.com or B&N.com, please make sure the ISBN is this one:
# ISBN-10: 0821781049
# ISBN-13: 978-0821781043
If you pre-ordered a different ISBN, you can cancel that order and instead order the correct one, listed and linked above. This version is the incorrect ISBN. Telltale difference: this version doesn’t have a cover posted.
If you’re going to buy HOTTER THAN HELL at your local bookstore, Borders seems to have the correct version. Flights of Fantasy and Mysterious Galaxy will have the correct version. Barnes and Noble **might** have the correct version; otherwise, the secondary ISBN will be received at the end of August. (Maybe.)
Thank you very, very much to everyone who pre-ordered. I’m really sorry about this mix-up, and I apologize for the inconvenience. And thank you to everyone who will be buying the book.
