    Word of the Day: Bailout

Or maybe, that should be “buy-in.”

Now, I’m the first to admit that I have a very limited understanding about the way the economy works. I’m happy to spend money; I’m less happy when I have to try to balance my checkbook. (Thank God for Loving Husband.) So when the whole ZOMG THE SKY IS FALLING AAAAAAAAAAH! craziness hit the airwaves (McCain says the economy is “cratering”), I started reading a lot about the situation, to try to get a better understanding of (A) why we need a bailout and (B) why this bailout needs to happen LIKE RIGHT NOW OR ELSE DISASTER.

This morning, I found this blog post at Daily Kos. And I have to say, this is the clearest reasoning I’ve seen to date.

Now at least I have a better understanding about why Congress is going to be passing the big bailout bill. (Sorry, Fearless Leader 43–you can’t spin this as an “economic rescue package”–it’s a freaking BAILOUT. Live with it.) I’m still not clear on (A) how this will affect me and my family, or (B) how long this will affect me and my family. Still working on that one.

Apparently, Hank Paulson was on 60 Minutes last night. I missed it; I also missed TRUE BLOOD. Thank goodness for DVR and YouTube…

Coming shorting: a new Cat and Muse interview.
